How we Camp…in a RV
We have come a long way from when we first started camping. We have gone from backpack and tent camping to a smaller size Class C motor home and now we are in a Class A Motor home. All those names may mean nothing to you but in the world of camping more than just occasional weekends it can mean whether you survive the weather with ease and comfort or endure.
In the past year we purchased our new baby, Savannah!
Savannah, is what is called a Class A Diesel Pusher. She is a new to us 2015 34foot Newmar Ventana. We will write more about our rv in the future but for now here is a quick overview. This means that it is on a truck base (freightliner) and the diesel engine is in the back. It has two slides that increases the space but what we love is that everything is usable as we are driving down the road. It has full size bathroom and shower, full size residential refrigerator, 2 AC units, lots of storage to name a few amenities. We can cook, shower, sleep and even sit back and watch tv in the recliner.
Hard to believe that 5 years ago we first purchased our first RV. It is what is called a “Class C RV”. This means that it is a RV built on a sprinter Chassis (think of all those repair trucks you see or the uhauls that have the upper portion over the cab for extra storage space) We got our Class C THOR Citation from Camping World. You may hear a lot about Camping World. Yes, it is big box. Yes, I am sure it has had good and bad customer service ratings and I have come to realize that some people just detest the corporation. Well, we had a good experience and we really like Marcus Lemonis. Our Thor citation was based on a Mercedes diesel engine so we got about 12-14 miles per gallon. We did a lot of research to pick the best “first” RV for us. (thank you Gone with The Wynn’s!) We started smaller because we knew that the first few years we would only be doing weekend trips and occasional longer trips.
Here is a picture our first RV and a video from youtube if you are interested in seeing more details. Some of our campground reviews will have the picture of this RV in it.
