5-6 years ago my birthday wish was for “real” backpacks and  lightweight gear so we could extend our hiking experience with overnight primitive camping. (We purchased most of our gear from REI because of their great return policy, great customer reviews, wide selection and Co-OP style of membership.)  This was our weekend recreational activity for the 2014-2015 weather and work permitting.

However, the threat of bad weather constantly cancelled our plans but by then we were hooked.  We wanted to be outside enjoying nature, not worry about weather heat and cold, pet sitters and the packing/unpacking.  We explored every option from pop ups, IPODS, Casitas 5th wheels and sprinter vans.  We  ultimately decided upon a Class C Recreation Vehicle. (which is bigger than a mini van but smaller than a semi-truck and drives like a bigger SUV).  I cannot tell you how wonderful my husband was about watching YouTube videos every night on the different RV’s until we narrowed down what we thought we wanted.  This is were we were introduced to You Tube Vlog  “Gone with the Wynns“and they inspire us to follow a lifetstyle that is true to us.  We went to the RV dealer and found the “one” that was perfect for us.   (I just cut out 3 weeks of drama and major annoyances… who says a girl can’t make a story short?) We ended up buying a Thor Citation 24SR from Camping World in Tallahasse because it met our every need for almost 3 years to include traveling with our fur babies, a 18lb cat named “Bryce” and a 9 1/2 lb  Havanese named “Rumi”.  To date, we have been to many of the  state parks within a 3-6 hour drive of south Georgia that offer good hiking, biking and kayaking/SUP.

In August of 2018, our fur babies were adopted by loving parents who have given them the stability they craved not our nomad style.  We also upgraded in size and quality to a 34 foot  Newmar Ventana Diesel Pusher.

Happily we semi retired on January 1, 2019  and started our new adventure of exploring further away.  Our mission is to find those rv campground and resorts that over us a level of activity that we could never achieve working in an office setting.  Since Keith and I both come from professional backgrounds in health and wellness,  our camping experiences are firmly aligned with our belief system in staying active, eating plant based and whole foods as much as possible.  We will share these experiences.

We aren’t even going to lie to ourselves about how much money we will save by vacationing and or living the majority of our time in a RV.  NONE!!!  What we do know is that the things we enjoy—> biking, hiking, kayaking, reading a good book, grilling a great dinner and being able to work while traveling en route are all priceless to us .  After all, “for everything else there is master card”.  (sorry- couldn’t resist).  Have a happy day 🙂
